I have two keel bolts that are badly rusted. The bolt heads are gone. I would appreciate any advice on how to remove what remains of the existing bolts so new bolts can be installed. Manufacturer has provided info on installation of new bolts (suggested material, etc.) Bill

Bolts or nuts

Need to know more about the construction. Is the a bolt embedded in the keel? Is there an exposed bolt head in the bilge or are there nuts that thread onto the bolts? Is the bolt (or stud) removable? If so, from the bottom or the top? If not (e.g., it's a J- or L-shaped stud), how do they propose that you install the new ones?

Drill new holes

I believe that once old bolts have sheared off, the best plan of action is to drill new holes. You might want to check with the mfr on a plan of action considering your circumstances. LaDonna
