Running wires through headliner on a 26M

I recently purchased a 2012 MacGregor 26M and am in the process of installing a masthead anchor light and VHF antenna, I had planned on bring the wires and vhf cable through the deck, next to the mast, I tried to fish wires and cable inside the boat, the electrical panel and vhf radio which are on the port side next to companionway. My problem is the open area below the mast is sealed and does not allow me to get to the plastic headliner and run the wires along the port side to there needed place. Can I drill a hole to connect the two sections for the wires to pass through? I saw articles about wiring a 26M mast, and they were quite helpful, but nothing on bringing the wires inside. Thanks

No experience with an M boat, but I think on the old 26 classics you would need to cut an access hole in the liner.

You might try reposting on the McGregor forum.

Thank You Ken, I'm thinking the same but it's kinda scary with the deck on top and headliner below..
