Ok forum mates my question pertains to the best method of cleaning up the running rigging. We spent the weekend clean the "endless summer" up and the cleaner she got the dirtier the running rigging began to look. Is there a solution that can be added to a five gallon bucket that will soak them clean.I am afraid to use bleach because of breaking down the rope strength. The mast also does not seem to go all the way through to the keel. It has a keeper bolt at the base and looks like it might lay over. Is this recommended or is going up the mast the way to replace mast top fittings.......Thanks Marvin. I am a electrician by trade , going to end up doing a total rewire. Whats there is 23 years of add on's and a complete mess. I will keep you all posted on how that go's. Marvin

Cleaning running rigging +

I use perminent press cycle my self with Simple Green and dry in the sun.Check to see if you marina has a mast tower available. It is by far the simplest and safest way to do mast head work.

What's your time worth...

If you pull all the running rigging to wash while the mast is up, you will have to run messenger lines. If you pull the mast down, which you appear to need to do anyway, you can rethread the rigging easily. You can replace all the r/r on an H25 for less than $100 including everything in and on the boom. Old r/r then makes great docklines, fender ties, welcome mats, sail ties, COB lines, heaving lines, deck lashings, dinghy tackle (on a 25?), baggy wrinkles, keel catcher, bow catcher, decorative piling wrap, etc.
