Running Rigging Specs

Hey all...

Shopping for running rigging, specifically jib and spin sheets and halyards. Looks like 5/16" is standard for just about everything, and for the standard rig, 68' for main halyard and 60' for jib(s) and spinnaker, both seeming a bit long to me.

I don't think my boat has a block for the spinnaker halyard on the mast, though it may have a spot for an internal one, I just don't recall. Assuming I need to install a block, where is a popular place to locate it on the mast, I suppose measuring from the top down?

Thanks in advance,
Steve S.

We normally use 1/4" for halyards. Those numbers are pretty close. I run a 55' spinnaker as I cleat it to the mast about 7 feet up.

Cool, yeah, 1/4 looks a bit small, but that was my first thought as well. I'll probably cleat the spin so I can raise it from standing the companion way. I can't freaken WAIT to get this thing rigged... ;-)

The Capri 22 is a fractional kite, so its a sheave above the headstay attach point, in the mast.

1/4 inch is fine for halyards if you chose low stretch line.
