I recently purchased a 1984 C30 (Std Rig) and plan to replace most of the running rigging. I am trying to figure out what gauge to use for various lines on the boat. I'll be sailing on the San Francisco Bay with an occasional trip down the coast to Monterey. Any racing I do will be for fun. From reading specs on New England Ropes it looks like I should choose STA-SET 3/8" for the main and genoa sheets, although if the boat were one foot longer they'd recommend 7/16". Currently the boat seems to have 7/16" on the main sheet and 1/2" on the (110%) genoa sheets. The latter seems too big to me - and it looks like the line is a little big for the blocks too. I'm leaning towards 7/16" for main and genoa to be on the safe side - any thoughts? For the main halyard they recommend STA-SET-X 3/8" - this appears to be the gauge on currently - I expect I'll stick with it. Any comments or suggestions would be welcomeRichard
