I need to replace a line through the boom. I tried to pull the new line when I removed the old line, but the cleats where the boom attaches to the mast separated the two lines. I am having problems threading anything through the boom to pull the new line through. Any suggestions?

An electicians fish tape...

or for that matter a piece of #6 or #8 wire may be stiff enough to push through. Have you tried anything like that? r.w.landau

Boom Lines

I assume you have the Isomat boom and mast common to the 35? There is a large opening at the aft end of the boom. You should be able to stand the boom upright (remove it first) with the jam cleat end up and standing on a step ladder let the line just fall through the boom and out the other end. You wight want to tie a short fishing line and fishing weight to the line to keep it straight while dropping it through. Whenever I replace a line I just use heavy waxed sail twine ( very strong) and sew the two ends of the lines together. It would be very hard to break the joint but sometimes it is too stiff to easily run through a sheave so you have to be carefull not to bind it too tightly. Best regards, Dave O'Day 35

Thanks

I tried a stiff wire, but it hangs up on the cleats. I am trying to avoid taking the boom off (then I have to thread 3 lines. It looks like I will try the electronics fish tape. Thanks
