How do you replace the bulbs for the bow and stern running lights on a 1985 Hunter 31? I removed the 2 screws which hold the lens to the base, but that does not expose the bulb. Is there a trick to this or what am I missing? How do you remove the lens to access the bulb?

3 options

1. use a sledge hammer to expose the bulb 2. trade the boat in for a newer model 3. never go out after dark Sorry Bob, I couldn't resist. After you remove the screws you should be able to pry the fixture apart, but you might want to wander into your local boat supply store and look at how simular units are put together first.

at the bottom of the fixture - phillips head. Allows lens to be removed (exposing the bulb) without removing the entire unit. Ned and Tani Strain s/v Family Therapy 1995 h336 Chicago

Thanks Andy & Ned

I bought a 20 pound sledgehammer to help expose the bulb. Then I placed an order for a new boat with new bulbs for delivery to Norway where the days are 23 hours long and you don't need running lights. My wife and I were getting ready to pull the kids out of school, quitting our jobs and packing to move there when I decided to just remove the phillips screw and change the bulb. Thanks for the replies.
