I thought I saw a thread where someone was able to get the AC on there 33 to run off a Honda EU 2000 generator using a combo of the inverter and generator. I searched the archives and couldn’t find anything. I’ve got the Freedom 25 inverter, and the Polar Bay 16K AC unit. I can get it to kick on with the inverter, but when I try to bring the generator into the picture, it pops the breaker and overloads the generator. If anyone has accomplished this, I would greatly appreciate any guidance on how you got it to run. TIA Jason

Ed Schenk made the referenced posting using his Honda 2000EU and a 12vdc to 120vac inverter simultaneously.

Honda generator and inverter together

Ed How did you get them to phase lock? Henry

You Can't

The Freedom (Heart)invertors are square waves and your generator is a sine wave device. You would need a sine wave invertor to try this.

Can't? But I am.

Not sure how I guess. I simply start the generator and then turn on the AC. I have an old Freedom 20(2000W) that came with the boat. The AC is a 12K Mermaid that I installed in 1999. I cannot run any other high amp appliances at the same time. But I do have some nice 110v reading lamps and they are usually on. Now you make me wonder whether I am remembering how the switches are set. I set my inverter through the controls of a Link 2000 that I recently installed(2004). You have the option of selecting the 110 from the inverter or the "shorepower". I think it is set to take it from the inverter. I do know that the batteries are not charging while the AC is running. Problem is that the boat is out of the water for the season and I only see her about once a month.

You can't be running on both the generator and the invertor. The invertor turns on only when there isn't 110 vac on the input. You might have a invertor big enough to drive your A/C, but the battery drain will be something to see.

Generator/Inverter

I am certainly not technically qualified to comment on the specifics of this topic, but I did read on Fischer Panda's web site that they were producing generators to run with inverters so that the generator would not have to run as hard or all of the time. However, after reading their information, it seemed that the generators and inverters that they had were too big for a 33. However, maybe someone else could comment on the concept and whether it could work on a smaller scale.
