I have a 1991 33.5 Hunter that I am trying to replace the wire for a Raymarine ST60 wind transducer that runs up the mast. I want to replace it with the mast in place on the boat. I have run into a nunber of problems.
#1) the compression post on this boat is inside the wall of the shower and the only access to the top where the wires for the lights and transducer are is through a small access port in the ceiling of the fiberglass shower stall. #2) The wires are run through a hole abou 3/4" in dia. in the side of the compression post near the top. I have tried to pull the transducer wire from on top the masthead and from the compression post and I can not seem to move the wire either way. I can't tell if the wire is secured to somthing inside the mast or if the wire got pinched while the mast was being installed.
Any ideas?

First things first

Why are you replacing the cable?
While I can surly appreciate that you want to do this with the boat in the water that is probably not practical.
I'm thinking sell yourself on the redundancy that a wind-X will give you and wait till fall pull out to do the mast maintenance.

Windchime, It's possible that the NEW Wind Transmitter is not compatible with the OLD ST60 Wind Display unit. Try "borrowing" a new cable from your local Marine Electronics shop. Bring the Transmitter down to cockpit level. Plug New cable into the new Tsansmitter and hold it in your hand in the cockpit with the other end of the NEW cable plugged into your exixting display unit. If it works, it's a cable problem. If it doesn't work it's NOT the cable. This way you know before you buy the NEW cable.

I have a new transducer, new cable and new display unit. I have hooked everything up in the cockpit and it works fine. That is why I want to run the new cable up the mast. For some reason the new transducer wont work on the old cable.
