Rule makes bilge pumps. Generally electrical.
Whale makes a variety of pumps. A popular one is the whale gusher 10 pump. It will help to empty your bilge.1622180055424.jpeg
There is a kit to replace the diaphragm.

They are a great pump.

The Rule pump is located in the cockpit . Built into the fiberglass. It would be nice to just rebuild it instead of replacing it. I was hoping someone had this same problem and found interchangeable parts with Whale.

Can you take a picture of the pump?

Eliminates confusion on parts to seek.
The gusher pump has a parts kit to replace the diaphragm if damaged.

The whale pumps can be oriented to be pumped from in the cockpit through the fiberglass. Insert a pump handle when needed. The pump can be serviced by climbing inside the boat. The pump can be removed to service the parts if that would be easier.

This is the only pic I have right now. Boat is 5 hrs away. I was just hoping someone has had the same problem. I could not find any info on a rule gusher pump, and I looked for a long time. Just hope the Whale fits the hole.

It looks similar to the Whale through deck plate. You stick a handle in the connection and pump water overboard. The similar pumps go be the names titan and urchin.

There are kits to fix them. You willneed the actual name of the pump to get the right kit. I replaced the diaphragm on my pump last year. A DIY task. Level 2 out of 5.Most boat stores have them. WM has the kits. Whether they are in stock is anyone’s guess.

Here is a link to the kits.

Why do you insist that it is a Rule pump? It is most unlikely. In 60 odd years on boats, professionally and for pleasure, I have never seen a manual pump by Rule.

Looks like the connection for the handle on my Whale pump.

It's likely a Whale Gusher 10. Very common on Pearsons from that era. The problem was they were aluminum. If you didn't keep up with maintenance, they eventually froze solid. Even when new, it was very hard to pump one of those cockpit mounted pumps for more than 15 minutes at any real volume since they had a very short handle throw and you were sitting down. The only manual pump that really moved water was the Edson where you could stand up and put your body weight into it. Frankly, I think you would be better off with two electric bilge pumps and it will likely cost less. A small 500GPH deep in the bilge for nuisance water and then a 2000GPH mounted 3" higher for emergencies. It will move much more water. Boat's just don't lose electrical power like they did in the '80s because so much on a modern boat requires electricity - chartplotters, inverters, etc. As a result batteries, engines, and alternators are more reliable. By the time the water is high enough to kill the engine the boat is likely lost anyways.
