Rudder

Tim I guess Im going to be building me a new rudder this weekend I sure can afford to buy one every 18 months. Ill make a few out of pine just to practice than Ill make one out of teak or mohagony, Anyone else have trouble with cracks on the rudder??

go for it! I have used Southern Yellow Pine to make rudders for a couple of different boats. Like you, I intended to make them as prototypes and make the final product out of a better wood, but after I got them finished, with a coat of epoxy and then paint, I was happy with them and never did. They have held up great; one is going on five years old.

Be sure to keep any templates you make because you know it just a matter of time before I break one and I'll need to know how to make one!

Good luck on the weekend project.

I hope to get down to POYC this weekend and get my boat back in the water to check for any damage from the BGSG Regatta.

Ok

I still need to take a picture of that little bungee that hold the centerboard forward or down dont I Ill try tomarrow.
