rudder water

We wondered if there was water in our rudder. We drilled three small holes in the bottom and water did leak out for about a week, a drop at a time. The boat was surveyed 1 year ago and there were no problems found. Is there maintainence that we need to do to the rudder? Thanks, for any imput. Cindy

Cindy - Disclaimer>>> I won't pretend to be an expert on this subject, but since no one else has responded, I'll throw in my .02c. I would suspect if you drilled a hole in the bottom while on the hard and water came out, you have a hole somewhere. Maybe where the rudder stock meets the rudder. If it happened then, it's likely still occurring. Has your rudder experienced any kind of trauma in the past? My biggest fear would be hairline fractures that can worsen over time, eventually leading to failure.
