Does anyone have a good picture of a rudder support so the rudder doesn't drag?

Not sure..

Hi Lee - I'm not clear on where it might be dragging. More information, please.

Take it off the transom!

I haul the rudder up into the cockpit before I even haul my H23 out of the water. Pull the cotter pins and haul her in. I don't think you want to leave it hanging out back there in transit...

Let's try this again

I keep the boat in a parking space at the marina. When I hook on to the boat and take it to the launch, the rudder hits the pavement at times because of the unevenness of the parking lot. I really don't want to take the rudder off and on for a distance of 100 yards (I want to avoid the lifting). I would like something simple to support it that can be quickly removed.

How About the Other End?

Could you use a different draw bar on your tow vehicle so that the bow is lower thus raising the stern?

Lee - an idea

Now I get it. The PO of my boat installed a little bracket on the trailing edge of the rudder, about half way down. When at my dock, I run the rudder "pull down" line down through the bracket then back up towards myself. I then haul the rudder up out of the water and lash the line either to the tiller or back against itself with 2 half hitches. This arangement would work for you. I'm sure you want to do all you can to minimize setup time for launching and this is easier than taking the rudder on and off.

Bunge Chords

I have exactly the same problem. I only need to hold the rudder up a few inches for about 20 feet as we launch the boat. I have used some long bunge chords, wrapped them around the rudder and hooked them to the stern pulpit. Temporarily I slap on a couple of 6" long strips of duct tape over the bunge against the rudder just to keep it from slipping for a few minutes. It holds just long enough to back the boat into the water. Then I remove the bunge chords and the duct tape and I am on my way.
