Rudder Replacement

I had to replace my rudder this year on my Tartan 3700. In my case, it was cheaper to replace rather than repair/rebuild the existing one as the cost of hauling and storing the boat while the work was being done cost more. Having said that I'm wondering if I should offer up the old rudder for someone planning the same project. This would allow the individual time to rebuild the rudder for a quick re and re. This would reduce the time and cost. What do you think?

Why not? The worst that could happen is you have the rudder cluttering up your garage.

It would have to be someone local. Shipping would make it untenable. How many Tartan 37's with broken rudders are there locally? Sad but prolly dumpster tx is indicated.

Shipping costs aren't that bad actually. So I guess it comes down to whether or not there is a Tartan 3700 owner out there with a rudder that needs to be replaced and whether or not my partner would let me store it. Unfortunatel it takes a small army to move the thing. What I found when I did my project was how long the boat would have had to be out of the water for a rebuild to be done. Thanks for the responses
