In Process of buying older Catalina 22. The Rudder attached to the back is missing. Where do I go to purchase this item. Some one told me that there is a plan to buid one with part from lowes.Thanks for the help. This is a 1977 model

The standard answer: Catalina Direct

It seems that the answer to almost any "where can I find ..." question regarding Catalina 22s is "Catalina Direct"...I know nothing about the plan involving parts from Lowe's (although I'd love to!). Unless you can find a used rudder somewhere in your area, you can buy a new one from Catalina Direct (link included in this response). The most recent price list I got from them is a little confusing, but here's my best attempt at an overview of your options:Rudder blade only (kick-up) - $315Rudder blade only (std) - $336Rudder w/ pintles (std) - $405Rudder complete w/ pintles (std) - 485Rudder complete (kick-up) - $649It also looks like you can buy castings for the rudder. The casting for a pre-1986 kick-up rudder is $310.And of course, depending on how much of a hurry you're in, you can always lurk on eBay until one appears there. You might die waiting, though.
