The fiberglass kickup rudder on my 1986 Catalina 22 has small hairline cracks on the top (portion that resides within the aluminun side plates). Question 1: should I repair this, or is it just curing cracks? I recognize losing my rudder is not a good thing! :>} Question 2: If I should repair it, what is the best way to do that - I have considered drilling several small diameter holes and placing some epoxy into them - what do you think? Ever done it? Thanks, Paul

drill a couple of holes and ckeck the dust .If it looks like wet wood or brown it means water is geting in and that is no good .I think alot of rudder are wet and most people dont care .A C 22 can be turned with the moter to get home. The rudder on the C 22 mite last for years all wet .I think there is ply wood core.check it out John
