I have a 78 Oday 30 with Edson steering. On my next haul-out (April), I may need to remove the rudder. Looks like the steeering quadrant is fixed to the rudder stock with a single bolt that passes through it and that removing the bolt will allow the rudder to be pulled down/out of the boat. Has any one removed a rudder from this vintage boat? How did you do it? Am I correct or is it much more complicated? Thx. Smoochie

I have a 1978 32 center cockpit and although I've never taken the rudder off I'm familiar with it and mine has the rudder quadrant and that "center bolt" so I agree that after you loosen the nuts & bolts on the quadrant and remove the center bolt it should come down, ya might have to dig a hole under the rudder to clear the post from the boat.
