The rudder raise line gets caught between thr rudder and the metal plate. O'day's fix is to tension the line with a rubber cord -- this does not work. Help ??
I fixed the problem by replacing the line with a slighly larger shock cord. The stiffer cord and ability to keep it always under tension seemed to do the trick. The only other thing I've heard of that fixes the problem is a home made bushing/disk that fits between the rudder and the metal plate. I tried the shock cord first because it was the easiest and it has worked for a couple years so far.
I tried larger and thinner lines with out any luck. I then tried to hold the line with glues and tape to the underside of the rudder with out luck. The shock cord idea came to me from a forum reader and worked for the end of this season, so far.
