water is overflowing the fiberglass collar around the rudder post in the interior of the boat behind a panel at the stern. this only happens when I am motoring above 1500 rpms. It does not happen when I am sailing. When I bought the boat 10 years ago the surveyor said that the fiberglass collar was broken but it was not a safety issue. Althought the amount of water coming in is not to much for my bilge pump I feel I would like to stop the leak. Anyone have experience with this fiberglass collar.

See the link. Catalina Direct also has the packing gland in their stock so you can see a picture of it. Easiest fix is to re-glass it in or fill the hole(s) with MarineTex or another epoxy if it indeed is the fiberglass tube. It could just be the packing.
