I recently discovered how to remedy a wiggly rudder post on my O'Day 39 1984. Drop the rudder and wrap a mylar plastic sheet like that used by architects for drawings and slide it back in. An alternative is to drop the rudder, clean the post and post hole, wax the post, drill some 1/8" holes into the post housing sleeve, inject some West epoxy with soft filler and graphite (mayonnaise consistency) into the housing through the holes. The wax will allow the post to rotate free once the epoxy has set.
