I changed this to get it in the right catigory. I have a 98 model 260 and last weekend at our annual regatta the rudder plates broke off the post at the weld joint. I welded the plates back up and added a SS strap for more support and there now seems to be less flex in that area. Has anyone else had this problem. Jeff Peltier

Jeff, Do you have a tiller or wheel? And if..

possible could you draw and scan a copy of what broke and how you fixed it or possibly a photo. I have a feeling that this is a potential problem that many of us are running into. Even a more detailed description of the failure and repair would be a great help. Thanks for sharing this info. Ray sv Speedy

I have a wheel setup. I'll put pictures on the photo-forum which include mods to the tiller down line and motor quick connection also. The important part of welding the plates back on and adding a 10 gage SS strap (2" x 10") is a proper jig to ensure verticle alignment and welding in a pattern that minimizes warpage. I was able to get mine within 1/8" in 4' which, more than likely, is closer than factory tolerances. Jeff

I took the spaces out of the file names, which would have caused errors on Netscape browsers. they're online now - p.
