Can someone tell me where you get a collar for a 2" stainless tube rudder post?

Two possibilities.

My first inclination would be to call the factory. Sometimes they are most helpful, other times. . . . They are not difficult to make and should not be too expensive. Tom Hadoulias posted his rudder mods in the Photo Forum I think. I remember that he added a collar. Pretty sure he made it or had it made. Check Related Link. I know my local welding shop could easily make one. You might also write or call Foss Foam. They are probably the original manufacturer of your rudder - http://www.newrudders.com/ Is your intention simply to prevent the rudder from floating? A couple of hose clamps around a split section of PVC might work.

Rudder Post Collar

Made one out of teflon(haunt local plastics shops for raw material) but I am not overly impressed by this material's weather resistance. Nylon was, I believe, the OME, and the one I took off my boat was trashed, but old enough to drink. Teflon is working well at this writing, but my eye is out for nylon stock.... Regards, Jim

just did this on Hunter 25

I just replaced the colar or bearing around the rudder post on my Hunter 25. It is nylon and the stock can be had at a good machine shop. The dia is stock and you just cut it to the desired thickness. Mine took a little honeing to get it to slide on just right. I paid 10 dollars each for two of these so I would have a spare. Sanders Company in Elizabeth City NC did the work.
