rudder needs bushing for lower pintle/grud- oday 23

the rudder is really sloppy, seems the lower attachment has no bushing.
is this avail somewhere, d&r says they dont have it

Loose fit long life

I have had the same feeling since I got the boat, also an O'Day 23 - The rudder fairly slops around in theGudgeons. I have wondered if a bushing was missing but have come to the conclusion that a loose fit is a good thing.

Once underway with a little pressure on the rudder any "slop" dissapears. putting the rudder on each year and removing it is easy with sich a loose fit.

So I think this is the way it is supposed to be.

I do not have a bushing and mine is getting a bit slopper each season, I think from just wear and tear. D&R has them listed in the web site under centerboard and rudder for the Oday 23s.

Rudder Pintles and Gudgeons

I had the same sloppy feeling in my rudder when I got my 1978 O'Day 25. I purchased new pintles and gudgeons from D&R. The new parts greatly reduced the slop.
