Arrived at the slip this past summer to a rudder-less boat.
The pin had worked loose and the rudder w/shaft had dropped 12' to the bottom.
Several dives secured the rudder, but the lower bushing was damaged while
reinstalling.
Where may I simply go and buy one ???

If it looks like the above, 2" diameter to fit around the rudder post at the top and at the botton of the rudder tube. it is a NYLINER bearing or bushing. It was carried by a local industrial supply house and cost about $7 or $8. If this is it, I will look for more information on it at home.

Ok, here's the scoop of this part. Remember I have an 8.5 so, it might not be exactly the same as on an 8.0. It's a Thomson Nyliner - Flanged Thin-Wall Split Bearing ( may also be called a bushing.) Its made by Danhaher Specialty Products. Google Thomson Nyliner Danaher and it should come up.

Measure the diameter of your rudder post. (mine was a 1.5" I believe. That's the largest size bearing Thomson makes).

The link below is to a Thomson product catalof. Pages 14 and 15 have the flanged bearings.

Select your size from the chart.

The Nyliners can be bought from Applied Industrial Technologies. They have locations throught the county. Google them for a location near you. Cost should be in the $5 to $10 range plus shipping.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
