I recently broke my rudder and need to get a new one Does anyone have experience with Idasailor or any one else for replacement rudders.

Idasailor rudder
I just got my Oday 222 and its rudder is in good shape. BUT I did get one for my West Wight Potter 15. And love it. The quality is very good and it actualy did increase the performance of the potter. If I needed one for my Oday I would not hesitate on the Ida sailor rudder. Oh and Im not connected to them or anything. Just a happy customer. Best of luck. eric

Weight might be an issue.......
The quality on the IdaSailor products is impressive, but the material they use is not light. The weight of the IdaSailor Potter 15 rudder is manageable but the O'day rudders are considerably larger. Does anyone have an idea of what the IdaSailor rudder for the 222 or 192 acutally weighs? I find hanging over the transom to attach the standard foam-core rudder to be close to the limit of what my back can deal with.

for my 222. The Idasailor 222 kickup rudder assembly is actually lighter than the one that comes on the 222 from the factory (there is a lot less material there). Besides it is a much better design. Not only is it a true foil shape, it actually kicks up if it hits something, unlike the original that has to break the rope free from the cleat to kick up. All in all I am very pleased with it, however they are not cheap. - chuck D

26 rudder
I had rudy at d@r build me one 2 years ago it took a few weeks and cost 1,000.00 plus but I didn't think I had the time or the knowledge so we went for it. Thankfully my insurance company helped out with about 2/3 of it after the fact.
