Hi, I have just purchased a 1978 Hunter 27' and I have noticed the Rudder has dropped about 1.5-2.0 inches. Is this a bearing issue? And if so has anyone ever replaced one of these? Is it a job that can be done by someone with little or no boat repair experience? I'm not sure if the two are connected, but the cover that is above the rudder housing (It looks like some type of access hatch) was completely rotten through. Is it possible that the rudder was supported by this piece of plywood? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kevin Carter
