Rudder bushings

Hello all,

Last season my rudder developed about a 1/4" of lateral movement, after haul out I discovered the plastic rudder bushings had seen better days. My plan is to machine new bushings from ABS plastic , unless they are avaliable to buy somewhere. Any ideas?

Why not make wearable bushings ? . I'm planning on turning ( CNC lathe ) Abs plastic to replace the flat bushings and to also sleeve inside of the rudder tube. Picture a top hat . Anyone ever done this ?

Wearable? What does this mean? And yes I would like something that looked like a top hat.

By wearable , I mean create a sleeve that goes between the rudder tube( hull) and around the rudder stainless steel round stock

Wouldn't injecting the epoxy/graphite filler mixture into the tube with the rudder in place be easier? See West Systems "how-to" on doing this. Seems pretty straight forward.
