rudder bushings for a '79 27?

I dropped the rudder on my 1979 Hunter 27 yesterday to replace worn bushings. There weren't any. The 1 7/8" post appears to turn in a 2" plastic tube that extends from the cockpit through the bottom, and that is glassed to the hull. There is considerable wear at the bottom of this tube. Am I missing something? The local Hunter dealer is no help.ThanksTodd Mason

'79 Rudder Post

About 10 years ago I raised the same question with my Hunter dealer. They said the H27 did not have any rudder bushings. He suggested I use an old milk container to fabricate one. I did this and "forced" it in without lowering the rudder. It worked perfect.
