Rudder Bushing

Hi all. I'm looking to source the rudder bearing/bushing for my 33.5. Has anyone done this replacement? If you have where did you get the parts? Or did you have someone make them for you? Can you just remove the old ones and use their OD then measure the rudder shaft for the ID?

You might review @JamesG161 posts about his repairs for his SABA after Hurricane Zeta had her way with her. He has acquired a lot of knowledge about the Hunter rudder systems. He is getting a new rudder, bearings, and install as it sustained significant damage from the Hurricane Abuse.

I have been asked by 2 in Canada about my new rudder.
The bearings on the boat side is

UHMW

So low wear and no lubrication needed.

I double checked and your clearances are ±.125 on the UHMW side, when brand new.
Depending on what your rudder bearing clearance is... Say also ±.125 then
A rudder play of 0.25 sounds ok to me.

When in cold water even more.

I had mine done at a machine shop with delrin. 1990 H335. About $500 with materials and labor. I had them make the flange a little bit bigger. No reason not to.
