Can anyone tell me if the bolt upon which the rudder swings will come out. Mine is stuck and I have been reluctant to put too much hammer on it. I need to replace the pop rivet that keeps the rudder down. I would just take the whole thing apart but the PO broke where the two bolts are close together at the bottom and then repaired it with something that stuck the two bolts permanently in place. Rudder re-build

Mark, The rudder on my '86 was in sad shape when I got the boat. The clamp wouldn't release and the Stainless screws into an aluminium casting made it impossible to take apart. I drilled out the screw heads and replaced the side plates. After repairing the damage and the long groove worn into the rudder from the PO raising the rudder without releasing the clamp. I had a friend fabricate new side plates powder coated white and I put it back together by drilling thru holes with bolts and nuts. The white side plates blend nice with the hull. Good Luck Charlie
