Royce, In some of your posts in the archives, you mentioned that you redid your rudder bearings. Two questions: 1) On the upper, you said you replaced the 2 X 4 with a piece of nylon. How big a piece ( thickness ) did you use? 2) On the middle ( rudder tube ), you did the West System repair. Did you do this only on the bottom few inches of the rudder tube, or through the whole length of the tube? Thanks, John

I followed the West system procedure. You coat the SS rudder post with wax, insert it in the tube, and do the inject thing into the tube. West system has a detail of this procedure. The upper bearing I made from 1/2 thick pieces of nylon so I could slide them in one at a time over the top of the rudder. They are about 2" larger on the OD than the ID. I don't remember exactly how many I made but they stack up and bolt up to a 1/4" allum. plate I screwed directly over the rudder. Good luck, Royce
