A quick search on the internet for "stainless steel shafts metric" came up with these guys in the US.304 stainless is available at several online places, not sure about 316L.I don\'t know if 304 is suitable. No need to machine the keel mount, just machine the
bearing inside

Hi Jon,
Build it with the 1”, take the keel mount off and take it to
the machine shop and have it turned to fit your 1” shaft. Take the piece at the
top of the shaft that is held on by the bronze block and have the machine shop
size it to the 1” shaft. I did the same to my rudder system, it was a no
brainer. If for any reason the new shaft is tight in the shaft tube, just use a
22o sand paper and dust it down. Then buff the shaft. Remember our boats are OLD
and you have to think outside the box on some of these things.

Re: [AlbinVega] Rudder and post measurements.
Hey
Group,
Hope everyone had
a good thanksgiving.
So I\'m having a
heck of a time finding 25mm bar for the rudder post (at least in the US).
1\' is easy to get though. Would I be shooting myself in the foot to
build the rudder with 1\' stock. The difference is only 1/64th
inches. Anyone with experience dropping there rudder have thoughts on
this???
Thanks!!!
