Noticed some minor gel-coat stress cracks and repaired them with a Beneteau color matched gel-coat kit. I finished the job (wet sand) first with 400 then 800, 1200 and finally 1500 grit sand paper. Question? When I finished my sanding with the 1500 the surface looks pretty glossy however will using a hand applied rubbing compound make the shine better or worse than 1500?

Thanks

Do not use a rubbing compound use a Polishing compound

You need something important to worry about.

Use a rubbing compound first, then a polishing compound. You can probably skip the grits less than 1000 also next time...

If you are at 1500 don't use a rubbing compound or you'll be moving backwards. You want a polish like Finesse It. Doing this by hand will be work. Meguiars #9 is also excellent..
