Re: 37CWhat function do the Teflon pieces on each side of the rudder have?I found the bottom screws had pulled due the sealifes new home and revealed a 1/8 hole into the hull. I find it unbelievable that these are thru holes. I have removed the plates and built up the hull 1/4". I don't intend to reinstall these pieces unless advised other wise.Rick.

Deflectors?

Not sure either Rick. And I have asked many H37C owners, and Hunter, the same question. They do direct water from the top of the rudder but so what? I replaced mine with new ones cut out of heavy stair treads. I reseal them each season after removing for painting the bottom, with Life-Calk. My plan is to completely fill in that cavity, the last four inches to a height above the top screw hole. This will strengthen the rudder area and prevent any possibility of a leak through those screw holes. Most that I have talked with have removed the deflectors and glassed over the holes.
