Had our maiden voyage and pulling up the rudder is a pain. What modifications has anyone done to make it easier pull it up? Are we missing something and it's not as hard as we think? Need some help here.

I just lossen the wingnut on mine and 9times outa 10 it floats to the surface , have seen some folks hook a line to the edge and use it for pulling them up
We saw one owner put a u bolt so they could attach a line. But we can try the wing nut. Just figured there would have to be an easier way. Thanks for the input.
Good grief. Just noticed on the post I spelled it "rubber" and not "rudder". My apologies to all. That's what comes of being tired and in a hurry. Time to take a vacation!!!

Seriously, though, all we do is loosen the nut, drop the swim ladder, push the tiller to starboard and reach down (1 foot on the top step of the ladder) and pull it up with 1 hand under the rudder.
I can't take credit for that one, my wife figured that out one day as I went up to get the truck and trailer. I got back and the rudder was already up and tied in place. I was like, what the... How'd you get that up by yourself. She wouldn't tell, told me to guess...I didn't have a clue. At least someone in the family has some smarts.

I have to give my HUSBAND credit on this one. I told him that one of the replies said "loosen the nut" and he went down to the dock and, yep, sure enough. Hey, we really do appreciate the responses. Everyone one on this site is so helpful and so nice. This is the biggest boat we've had yet and so far it has been the perfect boat for us. We just installed a stereo system in it and now we've got the tunes. We're Gordon Lightfoot fans. Gotta have the sailing songs going!! We've already got friends wanting to go sailing with us. And we live in "pontoon land". We are the ONLY sailboat in a long, long line of pontoons. We love it! Thanks again. !!!
LOL! Already have her named. "Aft-R-Fore" Our lake is really busy will rental pontoons every weekend. VERY crowded at the docks and a lot of the people who don't know the rules of the road. We get off work at four o'clock during the week and that's when we sail, "after four". Thus we named her "Aft-R-Fore".
