I’m replacing the hose and would like to know if anyone could recommend if I should use some type of sealant or lubricant between the new hose and the shaft tube/stuffing box. Should it be installed without and sealant/lube? Thanks, Joe

Sealant not necessary

Joe, sealant will not be necessary, but won't hurt to use it. Just as long as it can be removed in the future, if necessary. The sealant would also act as a lubricant to slide it on. If you don't use sealant, use a small amount of dish detergent as a lubricant to slide it on. It will eventually wash out. Make sure that you double-clamp each end of the rubber tube and that it's snugged-up tightly. Don't forget to add/replace the flaxing, also.
