We're new to the Columbia world and this site is great! We just purchased a 1970 C36. The rubber around the top of the hull is worn and dirty (and I think it may be contributing to some leaks we have inside). Can this rubber be removed and replaced? Or does anyone know of a product that will clean the rubber (nothing seems to work to make it white again)? Thanks for your advice!

Welcome!!

Hey Anna! You will love your boat! What is the hull number? The rubber insert on MoonBreeze was a mess, too. 409 and a green scrubby pad worked real well. You might try attaching the pad onto a palm sander in place of the sandpaper...might save some elbow grease. There are two very large, active discussions on Sailnet and Yahoo groups. Please join one or both as most of the Columbia activity takes place on these lists. There is an anual Columbia ownwers get-together coming up in January at Bertuccis Pizza place in Columbia. Watch for info. There is an active group of Columbia owners in the Middle Bay. We would love to have you join us on of off the water! Welcome Aboard! rubber trim

If its anything like the trim on my 26 it's part of the joint and can't be removed. However I have had luck cleaning old rubber by using a fine Scotch Brite pad and Boraxo and of coarse water
