I am having a hard time keeping my aluminum rowboat, which I use to get to my mooring, from dinging my rudder and boat. Has anyone found a way to put a large diameter bumper all around a rowboat. The blow up dingys would be great but I dont want to invest in another boat. I tried to use my fenders but they never seem to be in the correct spots. Sunset Dreams

Hi Bob: I used A/C line insulation. It comes in various sizes. I cut it to fit all around the gunwale, drilled small holes every 8" just under the rail and used tie wraps to fasten. Has been on for over a year, still working good. Good luck red

Noodles?
Sometimes you can find the floating noodles (The pool toy) with a hole through them- Run a light line through the hole in the noodle, and then run the noodle around the area of the rowboat that's making contact with the 260- Works great for us! --Jon Bastien H25 'Adagio'

Rowboats, wim ladders and rudders
SInce you brought up the topic of rowboats, has anyone found a decent way to get on an H23 from a rowboat? On my boat, (and most H23's I have seen pictures of) we have an outboard hanging off the stern on the port side, the huge rudder hanging off the center of the stern and then the ladder off the starboard side of the stern. Even though the rowboat we use to get to the mooring is not very big, it's not possible to get it centered on the ladder to make getting people on/off very easy. We always end up anging off a little bit due to the rudder. Once, one of my sons ended up taking a dip trying to get on, (mainly due to his not understanding the physics of motion and pushed off the ladder while trying to climb up leaving his feet in the rowboat.) On mnay other bigger boats that I have been on, having an inboard diesel and wheel steering, the ladder is centered on the stern making it much easier.

I have started with the simplest solution -- using my kids noodle floats attached to the stern with plastic tie wraps. It works pretty well but would be even better if they were twice the diameter. I back the row boat up to the the H260 walk through stern at the swim ladder, and tightly tie up each side of the row boat to the stansions. Not sure if it works the same way with the 26 of 23.5. I will next try to tie 3 together to make a larger diameter. Not elegant but should work.
