Rowboats, wim ladders and rudders
SInce you brought up the topic of rowboats, has anyone found a decent way to get on an H23 from a rowboat? On my boat, (and most H23's I have seen pictures of) we have an outboard hanging off the stern on the port side, the huge rudder hanging off the center of the stern and then the ladder off the starboard side of the stern. Even though the rowboat we use to get to the mooring is not very big, it's not possible to get it centered on the ladder to make getting people on/off very easy. We always end up anging off a little bit due to the rudder.Once, one of my sons ended up taking a dip trying to get on, (mainly due to his not understanding the physics of motion and pushed off the ladder while trying to climb up leaving his feet in the rowboat.)On mnay other bigger boats that I have been on, having an inboard diesel and wheel steering, the ladder is centered on the stern making it much easier.
