I need to install a new shift cable on my 2004 Hunter 260 with an Edson pedestal and Honda 8 outboard. Does anyone have suggestions on how to route the cable and how long it should be? The original installation went back and curved to the port side, around the gas tank and back up to the outboard on the starboard side. I want to reduce stress on the cable (the last one broke). I know you want to reduce sharp bends and allow for turning and tilting the motor. Thanks.

Herman, I just installed both cables on my 2005 H260 - I think they were either 9 or 10 footers. My routing sounds like what you described and they seem to be fine. Don't know where the stress on yours came from.

Thanks David. I found a label printed on the cable = Teleflex USA 3335 1 - CC17210. I've seen in the forums that the last 2 digits are the length in feet.
