Has anyone routed the main halyard of their 23 to the cockpit? If so, I would be interested in the details: placement of winch, blocks, cleats, etc. I would like to do the work before the next season in cunjunction with installing roller furling on the jib. I am considering leaving the winch mounted on the mast and running the halyard aft with a block at the base of the mast, maybe through a second block, along the side of the cabin trunk, to be ultimately secured at a cleat on the side of the trunk near the companionway.I know that ideally I would have the winch mounted somewhere I could access it from the cockpit and have a line clutch between it and the mast, but it seems to me that there simply isn't room on the 23, given the fact that the sliding hatch takes up almost the entire area of the top of the cabin trunk, and the teak handrail takes up most of the side. Ideas, comments, suggestions? Thanks.
