Router bit for new through hull hardware

Awhile ago there was a post that told how to use a particular router bit to undercut the fiberglass, once the hole was drilled, prior to adding the epoxy in a cored deck. I've been unsuccessful in checking the archives for this post. I have use an allen wrench in a drill in the past with mixed results. Can anyone tell me the router bit used for this? Thanks...

Dremel

I believe it was the Dremel high speed bit 115 - I use it but often need to go a little deeper with a bent nail in a drill to remove coring.

I have one but have not used it to remove core material..

Its a T-Slot cutter bit, you need ot use it with a collar to define the depth you want to take out.

Yes the small dremel 654 bit trick i picked up from Mainsails writing worked great

Ron - The dremel bit blitz posted is the one I use. It's rips through fiberglass like a hot knife through butter. Remember to wear a filter mask. It creates a glass powder. Also be careful of how fast you have the RPM's set. you can burn certain fiberglass. I know you have an Island Packet and I've cut many holes in my old IP27. I attached a URL for when I installed a Nicro vent on my IP. I initially used a Roto Zip but found the dremel worked much better.

You shouldn't don't need to epoxy the deck on your packet. It's a synthetic core polycell which is a solid core. At least it was on my IP27. I had saved the circular sample to show the new owners of Panther. It was a selling point for IP's.

Also here's a URL for another IP27 at the state marina. I helped install a nicro vent over the head. Look at the technique IP used to separate but attach the head liner. I believe it was a thick bead of 5200 or similar substance. I went thorough a couple bits cutting through it. Just wanted you to be aware of whats under that deck. Nothing says boat ownership like cutting holes in your boat.
