I just bought a 14 ft oday javelin and had a great time for two months until the floor began to crack, so when it rained the hull beneath the floor filled with water. The cracks are big enough that I can reach my hand into it, and when I did I discovered that there's rotten wood beneath the floor. Has anyone ever ripped up a fiberglass floor and replaced the wood floor supports? Thanks for any advice or help!

Iam 75 and will sail alone some of the time. I need a boat that is easy to sail and easy to attach to a mooring. I want something that is dry and will take a small outboard motor. I recently sold my 19 ft O.Day and want something smaller. Would the Widgeon or the Javelin be appropiate. I am n ot into racing. Thanks for any info.

Response to David Pierce about Widgeons

Hi, The Widgeon may well suit your purpose. It is dry and easy to sail single handed. The widgeon can carry a 4hp outboard motor. You can find owner reviews here: http://www.sailboatowners.com/reviews/revlist.tpl?fno=60&brand=Oday&model=Widgeon A used model may cost about $500 plus or minus depending on condition. New models are apparently available from D and R Marine: http://www.odaysailboats.com/ Click on "Boats" at the top of that page. best wishes, Steven

so far so good with my widgeon

I like the widgeon, although i am very new to it. it is small and easy to trailer, I can get it back aboard with the winch single handed, so long as I can get the trailer a little ways down the ramp. I like that D and R Marine are still able to get the parts and even new sails if you wanted them. Rudy is very helpful and doesn't treat you like you are an idiot if you have a question. The only thing with the widgeon is I would like a way to keep the tiller steady when I want to let go for a moment to reach something in the forward part of the boat. I have thought about a fold away extension, maybe this winter I will work something up.
