It's time to remove the 30 year old holding tank in my 37C. Using the search function on the site turns up the process of extracting the tank by pulling it foreward through the bulkhead and cutting it up as it comes. Unfornunatley, the 1.5" discharge t/h is just a few inches in front of this path, and it would take many, many cuts to extract this way.

Since the HT is installed behind the fiberglass shower seat, I'm thinking access and removal may be advantageous through the seat. Opening the seat up with a clean cut using a Roto-zip would be feasible.
Alternatively, a prelim look at the construction method makes me wonder if removal of the entire molded seat section from the innerliner would be possible.

If anyone has any experience and info with either of these options or any others, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks,
Brad

Why not remove the portion of the bulkhead under the v-berth. This way you have no cosmetic fiberglass to repair/replace. Then you can place a nice large sized tank under the berth where it should have been from the beginning.

Mine was removed as suggested by Steve. But why remove it at all? You really can't replace it. It does make it easier to get the new hoses to the new tank depending upon where you put that tank. You can see how I did mine under "Boat Info" and "Owner Modifications".

Some have cut the front of the seat out in the shape and dimensions of a hatch. Then they clean out the tank and use that for storage. I have the hatch but still have not made the cut.

Dave Wilson (Mermaid Hunter) replaced his replacement tank with a Ronco. Maybe we can get him to pipe in and give you a photo or two. He did NOT cut the seat out. He now has a 20+ gal. tank.
