Hey Yawl, What’s up with the rotating mast on the 26M? Does anyone out there with a monohull have a rotating mast? I know it’s suppose to reduce turbulence on the mainsail luff, but according to some of Meade Gougeon’s writings, this is only beneficial on catboats (all sail area in a single sail) and skeeters (talk about hard water). If you have an overlapping jib, the slot effect between the headsail and mainsail reduces turbulence just as much. I find it ironic that MacGregor tried a rotating mast on his prototype 36 catamaran but went non-rotating on the production boats. If any boat could benefit from a rotating mast it should be a fast (20 knot!) multi-hull. Then there’s the problem of “class”. Personally, I have no class, but some may want to race the 26M against other manufacturer’s boats. What class would the 26M fall into? “M”? Is it just me or did someone leave the freezer door open? Happy Mardi Gras _/), MArk
