I like the idea of the way the companionway door pushes out and slides back in, out of the way, without having to store loose washboards or pieces..........BUT, after several years, my rotator cuff is taking a beating due to the ackwardness of opening and closing it from INSIDE the boat. Am I the only one????

You are certainly NOT the only one! I occasionally clean the track and surface that the door slides on, and add a little lubericant. I doesn't make much difference, but it makes me feel like I'm doing something to improve how it works. Earlier this year I started sliding the lid and door separately, that MIGHT take slightly less effort and leverage.

It seems like a good idea, to not have any hatch boards to stow or doors in the way. But moving all that glass, especially the part that needs to extend out before it can come down, is not easy.

We have a piece of sunbrella that clips into the upper slider, with weights along the bottom. When we’re on the boat and just want to keep bugs out or cool air in we use that. I put some Teflon based lubricant on it a couple times a year too.
