Hi Allan, and welcome. You will find Bietzpadlin

in slip 436. What slip are they assigning to you?
Give us a call when you get there or before I can plan to be there to take a line if you like.

Moving into one of the

Condos. Unfortunately, Carina will not make it under the RR bridge (previous posting). So for the remainder of the season she will be kept on the Sassafras @ GYB (already paid for season). Will decide later on as to new location if any (I like it there).

Thanks much for the catching the line offer.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Saw Bietzpadlin

Took a walk down to your slip, it is slightly off from being behind where I am now living (in the end unit).

Nice Boat.

Jim

Allen and Ross are you guys on the Sassafras

I used to sail on the Sassafras when I was a kid on my dad's San Juan 21. There is a couple of nice marinas in Have De Grace. Why not move over there and get a sticker for the bridge. It only money!

Allen, you will have to get a boat with a smaller stick.

J

Jim

Ross, what does Bietzpadlin

mean? How did you come up with the name?

R

Ross

Capt Jim, I always figured that anyone smarter

than the average bear would understand how I coined the name. 436 Is a good slip, 7.5 feet at low tide, a bit wider than most. I sounded the whole marina and asked Nora if we could get out at the end of the pier. That was 2000 before that we were on the 500 pier and stuck on the bottom 3 hours after high tide.

The sticker for the bridge is the same price as a one trip toll and good for a year.

Allen you should like it there. Maybe get a small power launch and put your boat on a mooring at Tidewater.?

500 pier always was a very shallow dock. if i recall they were going to dredge it about 10 or 12 years ago. did they ever put water on 400 dock? that was the only bitch about the end slip was dragging 200' of hose to clean the boat up or to fill the water tank.

J

Jim

Ross, doesn't like me....

I would think you need to carry paddle since you engine is under powered.

Ross

Capt Jim, For boat cleaning I dip into the river with a

bucket. And I fill my water tank with the melt water from the jugs of ice I bring down. We use only about 4 gallons of tank water per day. Melt water is for drinking and cooking, river water for first rinse on dishes, tank water and soap for wash and rinse. For hot water we boil tank water and store in 2 quart commercial coffee thermoses, one in the head and one in the galley. Pressure water is cold and pumped from the tanks into a 5 gallon stainless steel garden sprayer tank that I pressurize by hand pumping. Even if we leave a faucet running we can't lose more than 3 gallons.

Ross

Rob, Nope! Just pancakes and muffins. Every once in a while

I might hit on Brandi or Peaches but I haven't made them either. ;D

J

Jim

Ross, you are too funny

it always you Ross. No wonder you have to work for yourself.

Ross

Jim , I challange you to put up or whatever. You

find out who to call for a bridge opening and post it here. The charts and the pilot say that the bridge opens on signal with 24 hours notice. But I spent two days trying to find someone to notify that I wanted an opening. So you find out who and where complete with phone numbers and prove me incompetent. This is Tuesday about 12:35 so by this time on Friday you should have posted your results.

Sorry Jim, no can do,

I couldn't live with myself if I had to have a smaller stick. All my life I thought the goal was to have a stick an inch or two bigger ;)

I do keep her (Carina) on the Sassafras and am happy there. It will be a little longer drive to get there, but not anything untolerable.

I may bring the dink over to Owens just to putz around the river on.

ross; call arvids across the river

they have the RR bridge opened at least a couple times a year, either for hauling in the fall or launching in the spring. they will have the number to call.
Jim in nj. yes the bridge opens, i.ve seen it open several times. it just that it takes a crew of about 6, 30min to open it and the same to close it.
