Maybe this is some kind of forum game? Or a new kind of trolling?
Galveston is only so big, I think I counted ten marinas on google maps? If that was my boat I would have already flown down there and started walking the docks with my own "theft deterrent device"

You don't have to be a member to cruise this forum. He may have seen the post before as a non-member and had to join to post himself.
Actually the OP is legit. Just run the boat name through the USCG. It expired in 2002 but the username is his real name and the boat was last documented to him. As for Stinkpot I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. It may be one of those one in a million things. At least don't give the OP a hard time please. We don't know the circumstances and he has kept the details private for a reason. Please try not to speculate so much. It doesn't help anything. SC
A new member's 1st post is to talk about a really expensive boat missing for a year. The person that responds about finding the boat, it is also his first post. This does seem fishy.
I really hope it is a unbelievable home run find, it is really, really, almost too long shot to believe though.

As I have said If my boat went missing I would not wait a year before I started screaming bloody hell about it to everyone who would listen.
Howard Hughes was a very wealthy man and the storey is told about the time he flew a DC-6 down to San Diego, met with some friends and drove to some other city and then to some other place and finally back the his home. About six months later the San Diego Air Port people called him and asked what they should do with his blankity- blank DC-6 . There was a long pause and then he said , "so that's where I left it".

To clear up some questions... I was fighting for my life from a serious illness this past 3 years and so-for the wind has shifted and I am winning now, and I am still here.
It is amazing when people are expecting for you to die how they sit around and try to figure how to get and divide up your life long accumulations before you hit the grave...I saw it...I have lived it and Rosewood is part of my it...
I took a long shot and Stinkpot found the vessel... I need the exact location and I can bring my vessel of 25 years home with the rest of my things people tried to take as I was expected to leave this earth, that others claimed or tried to claim just a little to early.

How do you go out to sea knowing the risk and danger, live life with being surprised about believing thinks good can happen...How can you live if you do not try and have faith or live with the attitude, something is always fishy if its to good to be true,
"The day you stop being passionate about whats in front of you, is the day you go from living to existing" and the day you stop being excited about the future is the day you stop living"....
This is a great story and shows you what faith and passion can do if you give it a try...

Guys something does seem a little fishy. The poster claiming to have seen the boat in TX has an IP address located in NY and pinging not too far from where the boat was supposedly taken from.. Odd indeed....
The photo also looks perhaps over cropped meaning the pic could have been taken a long time ago at the original marina and someone is playing games?

Maine Sail and myself are Moderators on this forum. We can and will ban people for inappropriate posts. You are approaching that, but I will give you some leeway.
We can also confirm where a poster is originating and Stinkpot is NOT posting from Texas.
What we ask is a more detailed explanation of what's up from both parties in a Private Message ..... otherwise this thread is locked or deleted.
Definitely an H-54. I spent enough time looking at a butt like that recently to recognize one.
We purchased our fractionally-owned pontoon boat from a guy who forgot he had it until his wife audited the accountant three years after he last used it and found they still owned it and were paying slip and insurance fees. There was an Olsen 30, new, in front of one of my old slips. The kids raced it one season and it sat for about seven or more years without even a wash before being quickly sold. It was owned by the Rothschild family. Hard to imagine forgetting you own something like a boat.
Some people are just goofy. My best man bought a 73 Mustang project from his younger brother. Car was (is?) in their Parents yard. He pulled the motor (351C), had it rebuilt, paid for it...and never picked it up...moved to TX fifteen years ago.
