ROPE CLUTCHES

I want to re-position and maybe replace my rope clutches. They're all mounted on the raised section of the cabin top, but I'm not sure how they were secured. I'm hoping I don't have to remove a piece of the inner liner below them to get access. Are the clutches back-bolted, tapped into a metal plate, or just screwed into a piece of embedded wood, in the raised section?

Tapped into an embedded metal plate has been the method employed by Catalina in the past. Two #8 screws if my memory serves.

Thanks. That would make things easier. I'll try unscrewing one of the screws/bolts, and then I'll know for sure.

Use tefgel to prevent seizing. It might be an aluminum plate

Will do. I can't tell if the plate is aluminum, but the screws backed right out without a problem. Now I'm hoping the plate is big enough, under the raised area, to cover where I want to reposition and add clutches. The additional clutches will allow me to lead the outhaul and cunningham (one on each side) back to the cockpit.
