I would not say I would not drill holes in my mast but every hole makes
the mast weaker. Every tapped hole is even worse as the threads are v
shaped and the top of ever thread is a sharp point and a good place for
a crack to start. There a re a lot of things that can be put on a mast
and I would put all of them on it. Choose wisely. The picture shows
six holes if I could reduce that I would. I seems like a device that
would clamp around the mast might be better though likely more expensive
to make . Doug

Epoxy and fiberglass are 2 different things.
Epoxy is a 2 part system (resin and hardener) and in not uv resistant (must be painted if outside).
Fiberglass is also a 2 part system, but is a resin and catalyst. You can add more catalyst to speed up the set (to a point), you can't add more hardener to epoxy to speed it up.
Fiberglass is uv resistant.
Epoxy sticks to fiberglass, fiberglass doesn't stick well to epoxy.
I tend to use the MAS system, but I would guess any of them are fine. -Tim

Fibre glass resin is polyester. Epoxy is what you want. West is one of many
- System 3, Mas and SP Systems also. Thicken with colloidal silica.
