Room around the table H 30

Our new to us (1989) Hunter 30 has not enough room to scoot around the table. I'm thinking of building a new table, cutting the original down, or repositioning it on the post (which also requires cutting a deeper compression post notch.) Have others done this project? I was surprised a web search didn't find it to be a common modification.

Outstanding. Thanks for the links.

Thanks again. Lots of ideas.

I guess I've decided to just build a new table. That way I can make it a shape and style I want. One issue I've had was I made the mistake of pricing teak locally. Wow.

So for now I plan to just use birch plywood, cover it with laminate, and finish the edges with teak veneer. I will also likely install some teak rails to keep things from sliding off.

Ken,
Does your table have a folding leaf that when down gives better access thru the companion way to the vee berth? The table is large in the '91 as well so it can be lowered and rest on the edges of the seats to make a big bed in the salon. Please post what ever you come up with... I'm way interested as well.
